Jay Beech launches Canucks past Bruins

Jay Beech propelled the 4-Print Canucks back on the winning track. He had his first three goal effort of the year and they stopped the All-Lift Bruins 5-2 in the final regular season game of the Sunday Night Junior Men’s Hockey League. He also had a single assist. Aaron Ellement added a goal and assist with Alex Wreford adding a single. Gaelan McCormick was the digger on three goals with league commissioner Steve Conforti aiding on one.

Jay Kerr and Steve Whitten were the Bruins’ snipers. They were assisted by Clark Chung and Corey Peterson.

The loop takes a week’s hiatus on February 7 for the Super Bowl and then round-robin playoff action starts on February 14.

SHARKS DOUBLE STARS

CCL Sharks doubled the Ken’s Lawnmower Repair Stars 4-2 with Marc Hobor leading the way with a goal and assist. Jamie Vint, Mark Andreoli and Mike Andreoli also scored. Playmakers with one each were Mike Weeda\, Lee Noseworthy, David Illjasic, Shane Gordon and Danny Harris.

Dave Matheson blasted both goals for Ken’s with support coming from Scott McCrimmon and Peter Coghill.

CLINCH FIRST

Carrigan’s Leafs clinched first place in the standings with a 6-4 barnburner with the Boston Pizza Canadians, Ron Toffan set the tone in the win with two goals. Eric Webster was high point man with a goal and two assists. Giancarlo Tarsitano served up a goal and assist with Dale McLean and Andy Wilson each scoring singles. Daryl Lee added two assists with one each by Jason D’Onofrio and Mike Brioux.

Steve Nelson and Joe Ravaleese inspired Boston Pizza with a goal and two assists each. Brent Spagnol added a goal and assist with Derek Roy also scoring. Kevin Norris and Derek Nottle added single assists.

PENGUINS PURR

The George’s Arena Sports Penguins sailed along at a leisurely pace and flipped the Inside-Out Family Chiropractic Centre Flyers 5-1. Mike Blackwood bagged a goal and two helpers to lead the Pens. Larry Richardson and Jordan Rothfuchs were right on his heels with a goal and assist. Kirk Hutchinson and Danny Shaw powered one each. Chester Wilson made his presence felt with two assists.

George’s Jamie Drysdale was hoping to grab a goose egg but that dream didn’t happen as Kevin Smith went top shelf in the sandwich session with assists by Scott Lester and Dave Payne.

Carrigan’s Leafs finished in first with 31 points. They were followed by the CCL Sharks, 25, the 4Print Canucks, 24, George’s Arena Sports Penguins, 23, the Boston Pizza Canadians, 20, the Inside-Out Flyers, 19, and the All-Lift Bruins  and Ken’s Lawnmower Repair Stars, both with nine.
