In the continuing effort to bring crime prevention awareness and education to the Caledon community, the OPP recently partnered with the Chamber of Commerce to deliver OPP Robbery Prevention Kits to local business owners.
Four-hundred kits were delivered with the assistance of Resonate Creative, a local computer design and graphics company. The kits include crime prevention door and window stickers, suspect height guide and a pamphlet with short concise points to be followed before, during and after a robbery.
The kit also includes useful information on door and window security, alarm systems, shoplifting, debit and credit card fraud and CPTED principles (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design).
Crime Prevention is not about how fast we catch criminals; instead it is an on-going effort to reduce crime and victimization in our communities through education and awareness. Preventing crime is a cornerstone of the OPP’s commitment to the citizens of Caledon, and in order for this to be successful it can only be accomplished through the cooperation and participation of the police and the community working together.
Recently, a Caledon OPP officer visited with the members of the Chamber of Commerce at their monthly breakfast meeting. The Robbery Prevention Kit was introduced and explained and future information sessions have been discussed with local small business owners.
For those interested in obtaining a FREE OPP Robbery Prevention Kit please stop by the Bolton OPP Detachment and ask to speak with Constable Jonathan Beckett.
