A 61-year-old man and his 57-year-old wife were arrested on drug charges after Caledon OPP executed a search warrant on Jan. 22 at 8:05 p.m.
Police attended the home at 13303 Heritage Road on an unrelated matter, and observations made by officers resulted in a warrant being obtained and a drug investigation executed. A total of 27 marijuana plants valued at approximately $27,000 were seized.
The husband and wife “resided at the address, whether or not they’re the owners or renting the property I have no information on that,” said Caledon OPP Constable Jonathan Beckett.
Police would not comment on what originally brought officers to the home, saying, “That would form part of our investigation and would pertain to a matter of evidence... I can’t comment on what that matter was. Sufficed to say we were there for lawful purpose investigating another matter.”
Dennis Blumanthal, 61, and Laura Blumanthal, 57, both of Caledon, have been charged with production of marijuana and possession of marijuana over 30 grams.
The couple will be making their first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on March 22.
